Babatunde Lea and Friends return to Healdsburg for Operation Jazz Band for the children, and for two evening sets at the Healdsburg Center for the Arts

We’ve been fortunate the last two years to have Babatunde play at the HCA after his week with Operation Jazz Band with some fabulous, energetic concerts, so you don’t want to miss this year’s! The percussionist is a charismatic performer who has played with a host of jazz  luminaries, from Pharaoh Sanders to Joe Henderson and many more.

Bababtude has assembled a power-packed group with saxophonist Howard Wiley, Geechi Taylor on trumpet, trombonist Danny Armstrong, and rounding out the rhythm section is Frank Martin on keyboards and Jeff Chambers on bass.

Wine and desserts will be available for purchase before the performance and during the break.

This is the first in the 2013 concert series “Jazz in the Gallery”  co-sponsored by Healdsburg Center for the Arts to support and benefit the Healdsburg Jazz Festival. The next concert scheduled in this series is scheduled is a solo concert with Oliver Lake on June 29.  The Healdsburg Center for the Arts is located half block east of the HealdsburgPlaza. It is an artist collective that offers exhibits and classes on the arts for members and the public.
