Healdsburg Jazz and Paul Mahder Gallery are excited to announce a very special free concert 7 pm on Wednesday, February 17 at Paul Mahder Gallery. Ryan Keberle & Catharsis will make a stop in Healdsburg on their West Coast Tour. We’re lucky this date is available, and look forward to bringing this stimulating jazz ensemble to Healdsburg.

Ryan Keberle is only 34 but he’s performed with jazz greats including Maria Schneider and Wynton Marsalis; hip-hop and R&B superstars like Beyonce, Justin Timberlake, and Alicia Keys; Latin jazz leaders like Pedro Giraudo and Ivan Lins; and played in the house band at Saturday Night Live.

The Catharsis Quintet is an impressive group of jazz musicians of trombonist Keberle’s generation, including Grammy-nominated Mike Rodriguez on trumpet (Gonzalo Rubulcaba, Charlie Haden), Camila Meza on voice (Jose James, Fabian Almazan), Jorge Roeder on bass (Julian Lage, Gary Burton), and Eric Doob on drums (Paquito D’Rivera, Miguel Zenon).

They  play an eclectic mix of original music and creative re-orchestrations of great songs from all genres like Sufjan Stevens’ “Sister”, Cole Porter’s “Easy to Love”, Ivan Lins’ “Madalena”, etc. The music from their upcoming release is inspired by the extensive time he spent performing with extraordinary South American composers including Samuel Torres, Emilio Solla, Miguel Zenon, Ivan Lins, and Pedro Giruado.
