A product of the small but talent-laden 1950s Indianapolis jazz scene, veteran drummer Benny Barth paid dues with the legendary jazz siblings Monk, Buddy and Wes Montgomery. A founding member of the popular Mastersounds ensemble, he’s been a Bay Area mainstay for five decades.

His beautifully calibrated trio features the highly creative guitarist Randy Vincent and stalwart bassist Chris Amberger, an invaluable accompanist who’s backed everyone from Dexter Gordon, Charles Lloyd, and Roland Kirk to Cal Tjader, Art Blakey, Barney Kessel. Under Barth’s canny trap set supervision, the trio plays melodic modern jazz with guts and soul.

Mission Statement The Healdsburg Jazz Festival stimulates interest in and promotes awareness and appreciation of jazz by facilitating cross-cultural interaction, providing performance opportunities, and educating young people and adults about the important role of jazz as an indigenous American art form.

Founded in 1999, the Festival has flourished into an annual event featuring performances from some of the most renowned musicians world-wide.

The Healdsburg Jazz Festival also produces and promotes regular jazz performances in the area year-round, and sponsors and organizes educational programs and concerts for children and adults.
