SFJAZZ High School All-Stars

Tuesday, June 7
Healdsburg Plaza
| 6 – 8pm
Healdsburg, Calif.

Healdsburg has become a destination city in the years since the Healdsburg Jazz Festival first premiered here 13 years ago, drawing lovers of fine wine, locally sourced cuisine and the Sonoma lifestyle to our balmy climes. During summer months one of the most popular events for both visitors and locals remains Tuesdays in the Plaza, a free showcase of musical talent and neighborly cameraderie from early June through the end of September. From the very first, the HJF contribution to this tradition has been one of the most popular, bringing the talent of the Festival to the Spanish-style town Plaza in a free concert. This year wil be no exception as we present a family-style band stuffed with true jazz talent.

June7-sax-sectionSince its founding in 2001, the SFJAZZ High School All-Stars Jazz Orchestra has served as an invaluable program, providing ambitious and talented young musicians with face-to-face experience with jazz masters while showcasing many of the region’s most prodigious rising stars. Directed by pianist and veteran jazz educator Paul Contos, who has mentored dozens of players that are now professionals, the 24-member ensemble offers an opportunity to catch tomorrow’s heavyweights today, such as local star Kai Devitt-Lee on guitar, the first-ever Healdsburg High School student featured in the ensemble.

There is no charge for this event. During the hours of the concert only attendees may drink alcoholic beverages if they are of legal age.
