Healdsburg Jazz and SHED are very honored to present the world premiere of the Charles Lloyd and Bill Frisell Duo, in concert on January 24. Magic will be created between these two acclaimed musical geniuses this evening in the intimate setting of the upstairs Grange at SHED.
This concert is the first stop on a tour promoting Lloyd’s new Blue Note recording, “Charles Lloyd and the Marvels: I Long to See You” featuring Frisell on guitar. Following this Healdsburg performance, the pair leave town to connect with other group members for the tour, appearing first on January 29 at Lincoln Center in New York.
Dining: SHED will be taking dinner reservations before the first show. For those making reservations and attending the concert, we will reserve seats to give diners enough time to enjoy the great food from the SHED kitchen. Reservations at Open Table from this page.
Special opportunity! Both Charles Lloyd and Bill Frisell are going to give an afternoon Master Class on Monday, Jan. 25, from 1 – 3 p.m. Join Lloyd and Frisell to discuss music, creativity and life. If you play an instrument feel free to bring it.
Cost: $40 available online on this page or at the class if available.
Just added! On Saturday, Jan. 23 at the SHED Grange, learn more about the acclaimed musician through the film Arrows into Infinity, a biopic created and directed by Lloyd’s wife Dorothy Darr and Jeffrey Morse.
By the age of 28, Charles Lloyd was one of the most influential jazz musicians of the 1960s. By his early 30s he vanished from public view. For over a decade he lived in the wild seclusion of Big Sur. He went from the heights of jazz rock royalty to the life of a hermit and back again. Arrows Into Infinity follows the rise, retreat, and return of the charismatic Lloyd and his spiritual quest through sound.
Director Dorothy Darr and Charles Lloyd will be in attendance for this screening.
Doors open at 7:30 p.m., and the show begins at 8pm. Tickets on sale now, and include SHED’s housemade popcorn.
Accommodations: Healdsburg’s premier hotels, H2H and Hotel Healdsburg, will offer 15% discounts on rooms Sunday and Monday nights, Jan. 24-25. Just let them know when you check in you’re in town for the concert.
Hotel Les Mars, another premium hotel in Healdsburg, will also offer a special rate for Jan. 24 and 25, starting at $275. Once again just mention the Jazz Festival discount when you book. This is a great chance to stay at the acclaimed Relaix & Chateaux property in Healdsburg.
